#8. Pan Am Flight 103

On December 21, 1988 is a day that shook the world as the flight Pan Am 103, a Boeing 747–121 bound for New York–JFK from London–Heathrow with continued service to Detroit, was destroyed by a terrorist bomb over the town of Lockerbie, Scotland. 259 people on board were killed as well as 20 of the people on the ground.

This was the worst terror attack on British soil. There was massive property destruction where the plane debris fell.
